A Test Scope refers to the Application areas, features, environments, and scenarios that testing should include or exclude.
If your bug report has been marked as Out of Scope but you aren't sure why, the first step is to review the Test Specification. In each Test Specification you can check the following information:
- Is the Device and OS you are using in scope?
- If you are testing a Web Application, is the Browser and Browser OS you used in scope?
- If there are different account types, did you find the bug using the correct account type?
- If you were assigned specific login credentials or promotional codes etc, does your bug reproduce using that data?
- Is the section of the Application where you found the bug in scope?
- Are you testing on the correct Test Environment? Check if there are any special instructions to access QA or Staging environments.
- Is the bug actually related to the Application under test, or is it reproducing a third party Application? Examples include Social Platforms, Media Players etc.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and specific Test Specifications may include other details about the Test Scope.
