Our onboarding process is designed to help match you with the right testing opportunities. Whether you're an experienced QA tester or someone interested in usability testing with no technical background, we might have an opportunity for you.
The process is split into two parts for those with a QA background:
Registration
Online Assessment
Step 1: Registration
Once you click Sign Up, you’ll be asked to complete three main profile sections:
Account Settings – personal details (use your full name, not nickname or initials)
Testing Settings – experience, availability, languages
Hardware & Software – all devices/platforms you can use for testing
Important: Your full name must be entered correctly to ensure we can process payments and verify your account. Inaccurate or incomplete names may prevent account confirmation.
To ensure you get the most relevant test invitations, we need accurate information across these sections. This helps us avoid sending you projects that don’t apply to your setup or background.
Step 2: Online Assessment
Next up is a short online assessment. Nothing too complicated, it’s designed to be simple if you’re paying attention. It checks:
Your basic QA knowledge
Your written English skills
You’ll get two chances to pass. Before you start, we’ll show you our bug reporting guidelines. Read these carefully, they’ll help you ace the test.
If you pass:
Welcome to the tech crowd!
If you don’t pass after two tries:
No stress! You’ll have two choices:
Try again in 45 days – We’ll send you a reminder when you can retake the assessment.
Join the non-tech crowd – Fill out a short form and you can start doing usability tests only.
⚠️ Just a heads-up: Once you join the non-tech crowd, you can’t switch back to the tech crowd later. So think about your choice carefully before deciding.
Keep your profile updated!
Your profile plays a key role in the kind of test invites you’ll receive. Keep these sections updated regularly:
Location
Keep your location updated, especially if you’re traveling for longer periods.
Results from outside your listed country may be invalidated, and you won’t be eligible for region-specific or localized tests if your current location doesn’t match the information in your profile.
Devices
Many projects are device- or OS-specific. Missing or outdated info could mean missed invites.
Languages
We run localization tests often. List all the languages you speak, along with proficiency levels.
What happens after onboarding?
Once your profile is complete and you are onboarded, you'll become an active tester.
📧 You'll receive our welcome emails with further instructions. From there:
You’ll begin receiving test invitations based on your profile and eligibility
Make it a habit to check your email daily. Projects are often time-sensitive!
Optimize Your Profile Further
We also offer an optional profile optimization form, where you can share extra info like:
In-app purchase experience
Mobile carrier
Preferred test types
Time availability
Completing this form helps unlock even more testing opportunities. While optional, it's highly recommended.
When will you start testing?
You can begin as soon as you receive your first project invitation email. Be sure to:
Read the email carefully
Open all linked resources
Confirm you meet the testing criteria before applying
Please be patient as you’ll only receive test invitations that match your profile.
If you don’t see any invites right away, it simply means we don’t have any suitable projects for your profile at the moment. But we’re continuously working on expanding opportunities for testers of all backgrounds and new projects are added regularly!
Haven’t heard from us at all?
If you’ve completed onboarding but haven’t received any test invitations after a week, reach out to us via the Zendesk Support Center. We’ll check your account and help get things moving.
