The crash log files are copied to the computer when syncing your device with MacOS via the Finder application.
- Finder is the default file explorer application that comes preinstalled with every copy of MacOS Catalina. You will be able to find it in the dock:
The log can be found in the following folder:
- Library\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_NAME>
- Note: the Library folder is hidden by default, you have to hold the option key to view it (it can be accessed via the Finder’s menu bar)
How to obtain the logs:
- Reproduce the crash in your iOS device
- Connect your iOS device to the Mac
- Launch the Finder app
- Your iOS device should now appear under a grouping called “Locations”, from the left side menu of the Finder app.
- Select your device (you might be asked on both the Mac and the iOS device if you “Trust” these devices - confirm on both the Mac and the iOS device):
- Sync your device with the Mac
- Wait for the synchronization to finish
- Find your app crash log
Note, the crash log’s name includes the following:
- App’s name
- date of the crash (year-month-day)
- time of the crash (hour-minute-second)
- the device on which the crash occurred
