1. How to provide videos for Test Cases
Whether you need to record the entire execution flow or just one Test Case, below you can find information on how to add the required videos to the Test Cases document you are working on:
Step 1: Before starting the execution of the Test Case or of the section that needs to be recorded, make sure that no Internal Documents are visible on your screen, such as the Tester Spec, the Invitation email, the Test Case document, Bug Tracker or any other documents that were shared with you. Additionally, ensure that no sensitive or personal information of yours (i.e. ID, Passport, Driver’s License, Bank cards, address, etc.) can be seen.
Step 2: Start the screen recorder on your device. Then, by following all the Steps to Reproduce, execute all of them and end the video recording once you are finished.
On Android, you can use to record: the Android Built-in Screen Recorder, AZ Screen Recorder, DU Recorder, Mobizen Screen Recorder, OneShot, etc.
On iOS, you can use to record: the integrated iPhone screen recorder, Airshou, Vidyo, BB Recorder, etc.
On PC/laptop feel free to use for recording: Bandicam, OBS, Free Cam, CamStudio, etc.
Step 3: Transfer the video to your computer. If you were required to record personal documents or information as part of the testing flow, please always blur/cover/censor everything that is sensitive before proceeding. You can find a guide here: Video Blurring Techniques for Attachments.
Step 4: Check the file size of your finalized video. TesterWork supports uploading only files of max 500MB, so if the videos are too large you can use the following tools to convert them before uploading to TesterWork - or you can split the video into multiple parts if this is accepted by the test:
XRecorder - screen recording + video converting/editing Android app
Handbrake or freeconvert.com - video converting tools for Desktop
Or you can use any other preferred tools you might have available.
Step 5: Log in to your TesterWork account.
Step 6: Navigate to the Profile sidebar > in the “TESTS” section > click on “Attachments”.
Step 7: Select the video you wish to upload from your computer, then with drag-and-drop, add it to the designated drag-and-drop upload box, and the video will be uploaded automatically to your account
Step 8: You can find all your uploaded videos in the section right below the drag-and-drop box you used in Step 7.
Step 9: Your files will retain their original filenames upon upload, making them easy to search for. Once you find the attachment you need, you can click on the “Copy URL” button and the link to the attachment will be copied to the clipboard.
Step 10: Go to the Test Case document you are working on and paste the copied URL into the proper cell (this can be either a cell from the ‘Attachment URL’ column of your document or a specific cell the Tester Spec/Test Case is asking you to add it to).
2. How to provide screenshots/logs/other documents for Test Cases
If you need to add a screenshot, log, or other type of attachment to your Test Case document, you need to follow the below steps:
Step 1: Prepare the screenshot with the requested details, or the attachment you need to add;
Step 2: Log in on your TesterWork account;
Step 3: Follow Steps 6 to 8 from above. By following the steps you can upload the screenshot, the logs or the .txt files to your Tester Work account, and then add the generated link to the place where it was requested.
