Testing AI tools is a little different from testing apps or websites and that’s what makes it exciting. Your feedback plays a direct role in shaping how an AI behaves, communicates, and shares information with real users.

To help you succeed, and make sure your work is accepted and paid from the first try, here’s a simple guide to how AI testing works at Tester Work and what we expect from you:

1. You’ll know what AI tool you’re testing in advance

Before the test cycle begins, we’ll always let you know:

• Which AI tool or feature you’ll be testing

• What kind of interaction is expected (for example: answering questions, explaining concepts, giving recommendations)

This way, you’re never going in blind and can better understand the context of the test.

2. Prompts, instructions, and the Tester Spec are your best friends

Before testing starts, test managers will provide:

• Clear prompts

• Step-by-step instructions

• A detailed Tester Spec attached to the test cycle

To make sure your submission is accepted from the first try, always read the Tester Spec carefully.

It explains exactly:

• What to test

• How to test it

• How to submit your answers

Submissions that don’t follow the Tester Spec may:

• Be sent back for a second try, or

• Not be accepted or paid if the guidelines aren’t respected

Think of the Tester Spec as your roadmap. Following it makes everything smoother for everyone.

3. Please don’t freestyle the AI tool

We know it can be tempting to explore or try extra prompts.
But for these tests, it’s important to stick to the provided prompts and steps.

Why?

• Multiple testers receive the same prompts

• This helps us compare responses across users

• It allows us to see how the AI behaves in specific situations

Going off-script makes the results harder to compare, so please follow the instructions exactly as given.

4. Detailed answers matter and really make a difference

For AI testing, short or vague answers don’t help much.

• “No issues found.”
